PIANO, THEORY and COMPOSITION biography​

  • 1981 - 1990: Begin piano lessons and taught by Ann Daubercies LRAM: Achieve Grade 1-5 ABRSM piano and Grade 5 Musicianship

  • 1991 - 1993: Begin piano lessons and taught by Elizabeth Sellers State Exam Diploma of Vienna: Achieve Grade 6 - 8 ABRSM piano

  • Autumn 1992: Completed and pass Grade 3 ABRSM Music Theory

  • Spring 1993: Completed and pass Grade 4 ABRSM Music Theory

  • Summer 1993: Completed and pass Grade 5 ABRSM Music Theory

  • Autumn 1993: Completed and pass Grade 6 ABRSM Music Theory

  • 1993 - 1995: Begin piano lessons and taught by Ann Randall

  • 1997-1999: Begin piano lessons with Peter Grump (Suzuki method)

  • April 1994: Win first prize piano solo at North London Musical Festival

  • 1983 - 1984: Begin violin lessons with Susan Bowles ARMCM: Achieve Grade 1 ABRSM violin

  • 1985 - 1987: Begin violin lessons with Rae Walker DRSAM: Achieve Grade 2-4 ABRSM violin

  • 1992 -1995: Begin violin lessons with Rhona Povey: GLCM PGCE: Achieve Grade 5-7 ABRSM violin

TEACHER TRAINING biography

  • 1999 -2003: Begin work at Soar Valley Music Centre and Loughborough College: Course Leader of NOCN Level 2 and Level 3 subjects. Peripatetic teacher in piano, violin, composition and music theory.

  • 2001 - 2003: Complete PGCE in post-16 and adult education at Greenwich University (Distance Learning)

  • 2003 - 2009: Begin work at Soar Valley Music Centre and South Leicestershire College: Course Leader of BTEC National Diploma in Music and Music Technology Level 3 and First Diploma in Music Level 2. Peripatetic teacher in piano, violin, composition and music theory. Teacher of Key Skills in Level 2 Communicatino, Numeracy and ICT.

  • 2009 - 2014: Music Teacher at Brooke Weston Academy. Lead teacher of BTEC Subsidiary Award in Music Technology and Music. Teacher of Music GCSE (Edexcel) and A'level Music (Edexcel). Cover teacher of Religious Studies, Citizenship, Science amd Design Technology

  • December 2009: Achieve Level 2 Equivalency in GCSE English (82%) and GCSE Mathematics (55%)

  • December 2010: Achieve QTS University of Bedfordshire

  • 2010: Achieve Judged OUTSTANDING in OFSTED inspection

  • July 2012: Complete NQT Period

  • June 2013 Judged 'Outstanding' in observations by Vice Principal and Head of Department

  • March 2014 Judged 'Outstanding' in observations by Vice Principal and Head of Department

  • December 2014: Complete Threshold (M6) to progress to Upper Pay Scale (UP1)

  • Jan 2015 - present: Begin work as Head of Music at Leicester High School for Girls: Teacher from Year 2 to Year 13: Teacher of GCSE Music (AQA and Edexcel) and A level  Music (Edexcel), KS3 teacher in African Drums, Keybaords, Ukulele, Using Logic and Garageband (iPads and Macs) and Singing. Running Chamber choir, Junior orchestra, Music Theory.

  • October 2015: Judged 'Excellent' in lesson observation

  • November 2015: Judged 'Excellent' in ISI inspection. Individual feedback includes '..innovative..' and '..teacher methods never seen before..'
